EDU 5370: Middle School Adolescent Development & Learning

This is one of two courses needed to receive a Middle School Endorsement under current requirements. This 8-week series examines the biological, psychological and social development of adolescents. It is scheduled from 4:15 - 9:00 p.m. on the following ThursdaysOctober 19 and 26; November 2, 9, 16 and 30; and December 7 and 14, 2017.  NO CLASS November 23 (Thanksgiving)

We will explore:

  • How social experiences in the family, among peers, schools & the broader community influence adolescent development
  • How adolescents learn
  • What motivates them to learn
  • How schools (especially teachers) can make an important contribution to the growth of adolescents by teaching ways that "fit" their developmental needs.

Bring a wireless device to class. The classes will include a working dinner, so please bring a light dinner or snack. Drinks will be provided. 

A minimum of 6 participants is required. If the minimum is not met, you will receive a refund. 

Participants will receive 3 semester hour credits from Aurora University upon successful completion of the 8-week course.
