Do your math assessments align with and accurately measure the Illinois math standards? Do your Type II and
Type III assessments measure student growth? 

Join us for solutions to these issues and more. At this workshop for Grades 3-8 math teachers, you will learn how to develop high quality, rigorous math assessments that are aligned to and address the depth and breadth of the math standards and accurately measure student growth. Bring a current assessment with you to the workshop and apply new learning to it.

We will:

  • Engage in hands-on math tasks and activities
  • Explore new ideas, tools and resources (e.g., Depth of Knowledge)
  • Examine key features of assessment to help inform instruction

Presenter: 

Kristen Clegg

Presenter Bio: 

Kristen Clegg is a national mathematics consultant and holds a master’s degree in Curriculum Development from DePaul University and National Board Certification in mathematics. 

Prior to becoming a full time consultant, Kristen taught middle and high school mathematics in Schaumburg, Illinois. Her consulting experience began in 1999 as a national trainer of exploratory math software and evolved into consulting independently and with numerous educational companies in an effort to help educators learn how to engage students in powerful learning experiences. 

Kristen’s work also includes classroom coaching and modeling, facilitating lesson studies, and customizing curriculum to align with the Illinois Learning Standards. She has presented numerous times for the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Metropolitan Mathematics Club, National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and at other educational conferences and workshops.

Cancellations after that date will lead to you/your district forfeiting the right to a refund or non-payment of the registration. Because we understand that, as school personnel, circumstances change from day to day and scheduling conflicts may arise at any time, you may send someone from your district in your place.
